Tour de France week 2018

We’re pleased to announce that the Tour de France will be coming back to our local and super stunning lake Annecy for the 2018 edition of this, the biggest bike race in the world.  We look forward to you joining us on our Tour de France week, where we’ll be riding over mountain passes steeped in history, chalked names and flags on the road and then at stage 10 on Tuesday 17th July 2018, for what promises to be an epic day.  The stage will also be used the week before in the Etape du Tour – check out this video showing the route:

We’ll take you to a stunning spot on the route as the pros do battle over this 159km stage to finish at Le Grand Bornand on the partly unpaved climb up to the Plateau des Glières.  We’ll be waiting expectantly with a cold beer, polka dot hats, flags and cheer for the biggest bike race in the world.

The 2018 Tour de France will see riders racing over 3,300km between July 7th to 29th in what will provide “a vision of modern and inspired cycling” say the organisers ATO.  Can Chris Froome win his fifth Tour and equal the records set by Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain?  With a reduced number on his team – all teams are to have 8 riders not 9 as previous years – and sections of pavé or cobbles in northern France to add to the mix.

Here’s what the Tour de France’s General Director, Christian Prudhomme has to say about stage 10:

“After the demanding cobbled stage and a rest day, the way the climbers will take on this tricky transition could be rather instructive. The climb up the Col de la Croix Fry will come just before a technical test heading up to the Plateau des Glières using a 2-km carriage way… without tarmac!  The riders will then have to take on a frightening double with the climbs up the Col de Romme and la Colombière.”

Join us for this epic cycling holiday week in the French Alps where we will give you an opportunity to ride some of the stages of past and present.  As the pros ride on to the next stages we’ll take you to a selection of some of the best Tour mountain passes, including the Col de Joux Plane and Col de la Ramaz as well as a few hidden gems of the mountains, some fantastic flatter scenic routes with amazing ice cream and tucked away cafes.  Expect some epic picnics in the mountains and relaxing afternoons watching the Tour de France in one of the local bars or back at the chalet.

We’ve got everything covered, with a chef, sports massage and of course plenty of cold beers and wine thrown in for good measure.  This is one of our favourite weeks of the season as it has a great combination of challenging day time riding over Tour de France mountain passes, afternoons spent watching the Tour de France with your fellow riders and all spent in a luxury but friendly chalet in the mountains.  Enquire about this special Tour de France week or get in touch with us directly at
